Women ICTpreneurs Nigeria is a training program utilizing technology to empower women with income-generating skills. The overall goal of the project is to empower unemployed and underserved women with entrepreneurial and developmental skills to improve their standard of living and help them become self-reliant productive members of society.

The program delivers training on ICT entrepreneurship, specifically on web development, graphic design and repair of ICT devices (smartphones, laptops, tablets). Selected participants are given full entrepreneurship training which include; how to write a business plan, pitch an idea and financial management. At the end of the training program, participants have the opportunity to pitch their business idea for a chance at getting seed capital.

 

The tech industry is one of the most promising sectors of the Nigerian economy but with very little representation of women. The Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics says that the ratio of Nigerian male workers to female in ICT is 4 to 1. Tech ME wants to change the narrative and close the technology gender gap in Nigeria by providing women with the resources as well as training to become tech business owners.

More than 200 women have benefitted from the Women ICTpreneurs Nigeria with 75 new businesses created. Women ICTpreneurs Nigeria is poised to raise up women who will be active drivers of the ICT industry who are not just job seekers but job creators.
